  Like any other province in the South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal still reflects the unbalanced distribution of wealth, life style, infrastructure, education, and amenities. The further one moves away from the three major cities in the province, the more the imbalance is apparent. Provincial and local government continue to make inroads into balancing the equation. The involvement of private sector in urban and rural renewal is facilitating acelerated change in the province. KwaZulu-Natal is the second most populous province in South Africa, with 10,4 million inhabitants, despite being one of the country's smallest provinces. The province has eleven (11) district municipalities, more than any province in South Africa.
